City of San Diego websites and web applications must comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

PDF Documents

PDFs posted on City of San Diego websites and web applications must have:

• Searchable text
• Clickable links
• Proper reading order
• Alternative text for images

Tables

Data tables, or tables that include header information for rows and columns, must include proper tags (e.g. caption) and attributes (e.g. scope) for accessibility.

Refer to the W3C website for a tutorial on how to code a table for accessibility.

Alternate Formats

For instances where elements on a web page does not comply with WCAG 2.1 AA, the web page must include an alternate format and/or contact information so the user has another convenient and efficient way to access the information. The alternative format must provide the same content that's on the web page and not require additional software purchases in order to consume the information.
